Lessons From A Year Of Being Vegan

I want to start this entry by stating that if I could still be a Vegan and be healthy I would. However, after a year of being a strict vegan, I developed small intestine issues as well as overall digestion problems that crippled me from living my life to the fullest.

I became very skinny from being vegan as there was less food for me to eat. I also ate very healthy no candy or dessert foods. I was 5’11 and weighed 135 pounds. 

My HDL and LDL levels went down. Triglycerides went down as well. 

Increased mental clarity. This could be due to a decrease in overall food consumption.

Decrease in stress.

All blood work looked great despite my intestinal issues. I had to go on a drug to help my digestion which helped for a while. However, now that I have gone back to eating meat, my stomach health has improved tremendously. 

Hopefully, one day, I will be able to go vegan again without any digestive issues. However, it does not seem likely at this point as I still have some stomach problems from this year.
